Subject:Cure For Clicks/pops! (Basic Studio Hygeine!)

Hi All (again!),
I can't believe how dumb I was..... It seems that my CELL PHONE was the
source of the clicks. I'm very familiar with the kind of interference
mobile phones have on amps/radios etc. when they're actually *in use*,
but I hadn't bargained on the *background* signals which they have to
transmit when idle (they produce quite a different effect). Sure enough,
as soon as my mobile was switched off, the clicks ceased! The fact that
clicks only happened when the Leslie effect was engaged is a puzzle I
feel no need to fathom! I'll leave that to someone with more technical
nous than myself (probably everybody else on this list!).
Incidentally, I invariably have my mobile with me in my (tiny) studio
when I'm working, and the Korg is the only thing it seems to have
influenced. Now I'm wise to the effect, I'll be more vigilant regarding
other gear. I always turn off the phone when recording audio, but i
hadn't considered the *background* effects before.
Many thanks to Neil Webber for his private mail alerting me to the
phenomenon. Am I releived? Yes I am! Hope that Renee Rober's similar
symptoms can be as easily cured!!
Cheers,
Pete W
