Hi All,
Following exhaustive listening tests this afternoon, I observe that the
offending clicks and pops are quite intermittent (one or two every few
minutes), and they only occur when the internal Leslie effect is
switched in and rotating (either fast or slow). When the Leslie is
off/stopped, there are no clicks. The clicks themselves sound like mains
interference/static/digital splats, and are often not too loud. They
seem to come from either the left or right outputs, but never both at
once. It's almost as if the output of the keyboard is distorting
momentarily, though the clicks occur at any volume setting, and at any
point in the sweep of the expression pedal. (i.e. they are
unpredictable)
Despite leaving a very busy sequence running (both midi
channels/manuals) at a crazy 500bpm, I was unable to effect a *freeze*,
so I conclude that that the thing is pretty stable, and the lockup
problem maybe something to do with a power glitch at the gig the other
night.....who knows?
I spoke to Korg UK Tech Support today, and they pleaded ignorance to any
such symptoms as I described, but of course offered to test my CX-3.
Since I've a heavy schedule with the CX-3 in the coming weeks, I'll have
to wait for a convenient time to send it back. The click problem doesn't
seem to be getting worse, so I'll live with the minor irritation for the
time being.
I'll keep the list informed..... watch this space.
