Thanks, Bill. It was the battery. I decided to try replacing it myself,
which I did. Korg conveniently located the battery on the underside of one
of the boards, completely hidden from view when you open it up. But I
eventually found it. What I didn't realize is that either as a consequence
of the battery dying, or of my replacing it, all of the factory patches and
global settings were lost. All of em. With no internal ROM to replace em
either. So now I know why you want to have a tech do this deed; he'll
restore all that stuff as part of the deal. I've found the necessary sysex
files online, but it's still a pain.
