Subject:Re: CX-3: pops and lockups

The serial number of my CX-3 is 000368. This is a UK/European 220/240v
model, and the firmware version is apparently the same as Bruce's and
Renee's.
Before I bought the unit, I contacted Korg UK tech-support to confirm
that all the new CX-3s they were supplying had "modified" keybeds, and
the most up to date firmware etc. The guy I spoke to assured me that
this was so. When ordering my CX-3, I asked the dealer to double-check
with Korg UK that they were sending a modified model. He assured me that
this was the case.
I have to say that I find the keyboard action very playable, and not
prone to the *bounce* problem described by other list members a few
months ago, so I must presume that although my model (and the only other
CX-3 I've seen in London) both have 0003xx serial numbers, that they
are nothing to do with the problematic early (North American) examples.
Having said that.... my CX-3 does give the occsaional *pop*, and the
note-freeze/lockup the other night (at the end of a 4 hour gig) was
worrying.
I've finally got the chance to give the thing an extended listening test
this afternoon, so I'll see if I can induce another freeze....
Presumably the more info about the fault that I can find, the better
chance they have of fixing it.
Cheers,

PeteW
