Subject:speakeasy hotrod

As promised, a report ... well, not much of one.

I recently ordered the Leslie upper driver hotrod kit from speak-easy
music out of Dover, PA. $124.95 plus shipping.

It is, in fact, a Peavey SP-2 horn driver. Further, it's rated at
a paltry 8ohms (which might explain the added 'presence'). As it
happens, my clonewheel project includes a 'clonespin' Leslie project
and this 8ohm device works out just fine. YMMV, of course, but
except for serious rockers, this may not be for you. If nothing
else, and I've not a problem with Steve @ speakeasy, if you can
procure an SP driver from your local Peavey guy for less, then
you can drill the 4 holes to match you Leslie plate and get 4
bolt/nut sets from (apparently) Wal-Mart to mount it with and
save a few bux... possibly. Leastwise, I'll be checking into
doing just this for Leslie2.

I've no doubt that it will sound just fantastic for my app,
but again, YMMV.
