Subject:122 - Good as new
Thanks again to everyone for their input on my Leslie 122 issues and
problem-solving whether it was a tube problem or a speaker problem.
Fortunately for me, the fellow who sold me the Leslie is a regular Leslie
junkie and has all sorts of extra parts (we're talking about a regular
Leslie museum in the house and a Leslie burial ground in the garage). He
was kind enough to send me a new Jensen V21 driver at no charge since the
other one made the 122 sound like it had a little kazoo player in there.
I swapped out the old V21 for the new and the Leslie sounds great! No
more buzzing. Just pure, raw, smoking Leslie power.
So I am in good shape now. I'll be taking this bad boy out on the road
as soon as the anvil case is completed. This initial trouble with the
122 was a good exercise for me to become familiar with the inner workings
of the cabinet since I have been on excursions in there about a dozen
times now in 3 weeks.
Thanks again for all your help and have a great weekend.
Regards,
Eric
