I have one in my (studio) rack which I bought maybe three or four years ago
for (I think) $85, garage sale. For a 'practical' instrument, assuming it's
in perfect working order, I would not pay more than $150, and that's assuming
you LOVE the sound. If you want to 'preserve some interesting history,' pay
another $25.

I like the sound of the DMI, but it is very different than Voce models V3 &
later, as the 'partials' are integral multiples of the 8' pitch, not
tempered. This produces a 'sweeter' tone quality which I find to be nice for
pads and things. In a sense, this is using the unit not as a Hammond sim, but
more like one would use some other 'quasi-analog' unit, like a Matrix-1000 on
a pretty little organ patch.

Real 'Programming' of the DMI is very difficult, due to the limited
interface, but tweaking is kinda fun. You MUST have the numeric parameter
chart in front of you while you do it, though. Satisfactory rotary sim, etc.
must be external, unless the sound is buried in a mix.

Although I used the DMI a couple times, a long time ago, for live/theatrical,
I currently use (for heavy-duty) a V3 and MotionSound, or (less
demanding/ease of use) a Vintage Keys Plus.
