I don't dispute anything that you've experienced. I had called them many
times in the past trying to get info on the V-3. Left many messages, never
a reply. Repeatedly. As for the VOCE vs Yamaha and Roland, Yamaha and
Roland have wisely diversified into many aspects of music and consumer
products. Yamaha is or has been, motorcycles, skis , acoustic pianos,
Roland is pro and consumer recording, guitar effects, etc. BIg Ad Budgets,
Big Star endorsements. Have you ever seen an ad for a VOCE V-3, when it
was the flagshop product for the company? An earlier VOCE egroup member
asked if there were any major recordings available where a VOCE product has
been used? No one in the highly aware and knowlegable egroup list had a
response to the affirmative!

IMHO, I have a thought that the original VOCE line was developed in the US
by creative people, passionately interested in developing a box that would
emulate the Hammond/Leslie monolith. VOCE was about passion, formed around
a sonic concept, a narrow focus on a limited landscape. Roland and Yamaha
are about business, a wide focus on the musical countryside. That
Hammond/Leslie mountain has been challenged before. There is a sort of
tragic end to tilting against windmills. How many keyboard boxes can you
realisticly expect to sell when the small Hammond clone market is saturated?
Piano/Organ is not a wildly popular instrument. Three guitars and a drum
kit is the standard line-up of the contemporary sound. How many guitar
effects can you sell, annually, when a new rock star has a "new" sound that
every garage band string bender "has" to have ? Times three. Cha-Ching!!!
Even mediocre guitar players have more than one intrument.

IMHO, The Hammond/Leslie sound is looking backward to emulate an
historical/mechanical sound. Analog. Much of what I see Roland/Yamaha and
other Japanese manufacturers doing is looking to the future which is on the
horizon and electrical. Digital. I still want the past but finding it does
make the search more challengeing.

Please read my topic "Save my Micro BII". I talked to them about six
weeks ago and I have heard nothing about getting parts for my unit.
They initially did not respond to several of my e-mails or phone
messages and when I got them on the phone the guy seemed real sincere
and helpful, but had a lot excuses about how everything is on back
order and I shouldn't expect very quick response. It sounded like -
"We'll call you in a couple of months" That is why I want to know who
is building these things so I can call the manufacturer. No response
yet from DR Music, This board or even the manufacturer of the chip I
need to buy. Hey, this whole Voce thing has alays been a little shaky
- its not like a Yamaha or a Roland. Thats what you get when you want
to buy a Puegot instead of a Ford.
