Neil's suggestions for keeping your cords organized was great, I do
the exact same thing. This is the type of feedback I was hoping we'd
get.
Eamonn, I would strongly suggest getting a lightweight 2 or 3 space
SKB rack for your Kurz module and power coditioner. I have all my
wall-warts neatly & permanently mounted in my rack where they are
safe from harm. It's just not very wise (and potentially
embarrassing) to invest so much money into your equipment, only to
have everything fall apart in the middle of a gig because your $15
wall-wart self-destructed. I always carry with me a suitcase with
spares of all the less expensive but vital accessories that can fail,
like patch cords, computer-type AC cords, sustain pedals, volume/CC
pedal, batteries, flashlight, screwdrivers, soldering iron, duct
tape, chewing gum, condoms. Lots of peace of mind for very little
money.
A tip for cheap damper/sustain pedals to keep around for spares: I've
been using this low profile Yamaha pedal; I think it's specifically a
FC5. It's got a durable metal casing and works with most any
keyboard. You can get them in any of the discount catalogs for
around $16; I buy them locally at Best Buy for $12 where they sell
them to go along with their Casio home keyboards.
As far as adding clavs, EP's and synths, to keep things portable I'd
go with modules. Alesis makes some pretty good inexpesive and
versatile stuff (NanoPiano & NanoSynth; you might find a cheap one on
eBay). A module will easily fit into that new SKB rack and is easy
to MIDI thru your Kurz MicroPiano.
A word on SKB racks; get the older type that have attaching front and
back covers. Their new, economy line is shit.
BTW, my Peavey DECA/700 power amp is for sale. Please email me
privately if you're interested. (bdmojo@groovedaddies.com)
