Stephen,
You could get by on the V3 if -- and it's a pretty big IF -- none of the
original settings were corrupted. The V3 as it comes from the factory
is set up to talk to the drawbar module, and you can save settings from
the module, too. The only problem is: How are you going to know which
patch you are at when you spin the wheel. The V3 has no other user
feedback.
As an alternative, why not get the LCD panel fixed? CAE sound (and
others?)does repair work on the V3, and the LCD module that they use
looks common enough.
Having said that, though, a word of CAUTION:
eBAY IS FULL OF DECENT BUYERS AND SELLERS, BUT IT IS ALSO FULL OF
SHARKS. BEFORE I WOULD BUY A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT "WORKS PERFECTLY,
BUT ..." I WOULD WANT AN IRON-CLAD GUARANTEE THAT I COULD RETURN THE
ITEM IF I WASN'T SATISFIED -- NO QUESTIONS ASKED. WITHOUT THE LCD
DISPLAY, AND NO MIDI DRAWBARS, IT IS GOING TO BE *VERY* DIFFICULT TO
QUICKLY ASCERTAIN IF ALL THE FUNCTIONS ARE INDEED WORKING. IN FACT,
EVEN IF THE DISPLAY WAS WORKING, SOME SUBTLE THINGS COULD SLIP BY A
NOVICE OWNER FOR A MONTH OR TWO. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!!
Best regards,
-BW

THank you for such a terrific forum. I have been subscribed for at
least 4 or 5 months now, but ironically enough, I don't have a V3 yet!
I'm a very poor musician.
However, there is an opportunity on EBay that I have been
considering.

I've never handled a Voce V3, and this might be a great way to try it
out for cheap. The problem with the unit is that the LCD display
doesn't work.
Is a great part of the programming of the V3 done with this LCD
display? Would I pretty much be stuck with the preset sounds as they
are without an LCD display? Later on down the road, could I use Midi
Drawbars with this sound module without the LCD or do I need to
configure/program the sound module to work with the DrawBars through
the LCD display.
Any other ramifications of this buy would be greatly appreciated!
Cheerio!
