Dean,

The correct name for this is a "Fender Vibratone". It's the twin of the
Leslie Model 16 -- or maybe it's the Model 18 -- which is probably where
the confusion comes from. It has one full-range 12" Eminence speaker
driven into a foam rotor, all tilted vertically, instead of the
horizontal setup normally used in Leslies. I used one in the late
'70's, and I was very pleased with it -- until I heard a Model 147...

On the plus side, it has a better Leslie palette than 90% of the
simulators out there, and it gives a good 3-D image. It's also nice and
portable, and it doesn't need a combo preamp, which is $$$ and often
hard to find.

On the minus side, it doesn't have the cut or growl of the 2-way
Leslies. It doesn't have the "classic" horn/rotor sound. And it needs
an amp.

IMHO, $250 sounds a little on the pricey side, since you can often find
a full Leslie in need of work for twice that price.

Best regards,

-BW

Hi everyone,
Someone is selling a Fender Leslie 16 for around $250. Can anyone tell
me
about it? Is this a good price also? I couldn't find anything on the
web.
