Subject:The Business (again)

Hi, one and all'

Just a quick line, if its not out of place on the Voce egroup. I've
just purchased the new E-mu B3 sound module, which I believe, for
the first time, is a successful sampling through Leslie cabinets
(they have used a 122 and 147or 145 to obtain a completely realistic
effect, at least as far as is heard on records and CDs and miked in
stage situations.
The B3 can be played in the normal manner as the rotor sounds are
sync'd at all frequencies (ie) the Leslie speed remains constant
(either fast or slow ) as you play up and down your master keyboard.
To change from 'fast' samples to 'slow they have morphed the two
speeds so that they x/fade from one to the other.
Not quite the normal speed up and down but very effective for all
that.
Any way I am very pleased with my purchase which for now I am using
to supplement my Hammond XM1 plus Rotosphere. In the main I am using
the XM1 for lower manual and the B3 for upper. I may ditch the
Hammond in the future when I get to grips with the programming.
The down-side really is the fact that there isn't drawbar control.
However I tend to use the master keyboard for setting up programmed
presets which at the touch of a button change the virtual Hammond
drawbar settings which I have pre-programmed.

If any-one is interested there are a couple of MP3 demos on the
emu.com site.
Regards, Thomas.
