Bruce,
Viscount is a Japanese company who made the D-9 and the (original) OB-3.
I've heard the D-9, and I think it sounds like most of the earlier
Hammond clones; i.e., the Korg CX-3, the Elka X-50, the Crumar T-1/T-2,
and the Hammond X-2/X-5. Close, but no cigar. It doesn't have the
correct blend of keyclick, foldback, tuning, hum/leakage, and grit that
the newer clones have. Your mileage, of course, may vary.
I don't know if they were involved with the OB-3^2 or not; if so, they
may have a version under the Viscount name. The OB-3^2 is clearly a
better Hammond clone than its older brother. I don't think it holds up
to the V3/V5, but that might be my personal taste. (It might also be
due in part to the fact that I auditioned it through a Motion Sound
PRO-3, which isn't a perfect Leslie clone, either.)
Best regards,
-BW
