Bruce's Stationary StationeryDonn,

I can't add much to what the others have said: In its day, the DMI-64 Mark
II was considered a superb Hammond clone. Its day, however, was nearly ten
years ago, and things have changed a bit.

Two interesting asides that you might ponder:
a.. My website has the Voce editor/librarian software for the DMI-64.
I've never been able to get it to run, but I've often felt that this was
because I had no DMI-64 plugged in; lots of librarians fail to work -- or
work very strangely -- when the synth is not connected. If you get a
chance, download it and tell me if it works. There are two versions, for
old and new firmware.
a.. The early version of the drawbar manual kind of implies that there is
a feedback path between the DB unit and the DMI-64; i.e., if you turn
percussion on on the DMI-64, it will send a signal back to the DB's to light
the light, etc. It seems like this would require an additional MIDI input,
but I never quite figured it out. If you get this scenario to work, let us
know the particulars.
Best regards,

-BW

Bruce & Group:

You will remember my post thanking you for the mention about the MIDI
Drawbar module. I thought that the asking price was reasonable and I
immediately purchased the unit as a spare or controller second manual.

The package arrived today via UPS. It was rather large and heavy
considering the size and weight of the drawbar unit we all know. I dug deep
into the Styrofoam packing material and found the proper wall wart, so I
knew that we were on track, but there was much more under the pellets and
whatever it was, was heavy. What I pulled out of the package was a Voce
Midi Drawbar unit packaged with a DMI-64! I had never seen one of these
before, but it is obviously the predecessor to the V3. The front panel is
1/8" steel.

It came with both operating manuals. What can you guys tell me about the
DMI-64 vs. V3?

Thanks,

Donn

All,

A friend of mine told me that Daddy's Junky Music in NH has MIDI
Drawbar module in their Used Gear By Mail section, for $129.00. I checked,
and it's still listed. I have no other details. Their website is
http://www.daddys.com/dadhome.shtml and their phone number is
1-800-366-4323.

Happy hunting!
