Subject:RE: [Voce] Re: MIDI drawbars

Ilya,

Thanks for clarifying this point. The use of the newer drawbars
certainly improves things. My only concern is that most of those small
rotary switches have a short life (5,000-10,000 cycles?), and were never
meant for real-time use in a playing environment. I'm also not sure if
the current mounting method allows for continuous use of the switch
without damaging either the switch or the PC board. Use of one DB
module for three manuals will probably mean that the switch wears out
after a short time, and we are all aware of the current difficulty in
finding parts for older Voce products.

One alternative would be to replace the channel switch with an
"industrial strength" version, probably mounted in a different position
for ease of use. Some of the list members probably feel this is a very
acceptable suggestion; others may feel it is outside their capabilities
to make the modifications. Each member has to decide this question for
his or herself.

Best regards,

-BW
