Subject:RE: [Voce] slightly OT: submixers
Neil,
I don't use one anymore, because I run the whole PA from my corner of the
stage. When I DID use a submixer, I used a Peavey Linemix-8. I never had
any trouble with it. The only thing I didn't like about it was that both
Aux outputs were post-EQ/post-fader; I ended up changing one of them to
post-EQ/pre-fader (my favorite for an Aux send).
Best regards,
-BW

Subject: [Voce] slightly OT: submixers
Not specific to Voce, but I know some of you folks gig and I thought this
question would be of general interest. You can flame me if not.
I have a rack with 3 synth modules in it (one of them my V3). Right now
I use a Roland KC500 amp (has four line-level inputs), and for a variety of
reasons I'd rather go for a rack-mount submixer.
I just brought home a Rolls RM65 to try. Two words: it sucks. It adds
incredible amounts of hiss. This thing will make the V3 line output seem
like a studio-quiet masterpiece. Even your nearly-deaf guitar bandmates
could hear the hiss coming out of this thing.
Ok, so that's going back to the store. My question is: what are other
folks using?
I gig, and our band doesn't have roadies :-) -- so I really want something
small and light. I intend to set all the trim and levels once and never
touch the mixer again (ideally) once I get it set up in my rack. The RM65
seemed like the perfect solution, if only it worked right.
Anyone out there have a submixer they are happy with?
