Subject:MIDI Peripherals Anyone?
All,
One of the listmembers would like to buy a MIDI "glue" device called a
Mapper from a company called MIDI Solutions that I suggested to him. I
use another device that they make, the Router, and I absolutely could
not do without that box. One problem: We can't seem to find a dealer
with stock.
I'm not a musical instrument dealer per se, but I believe in the
product, and I would be willing to buy some of the units to sell, but
the first time order amounts to ~10-12 pieces, depending on cost. I'm
wondering if any of you have any use for these items. All are cable
powered, meaning no wall-wart is needed. Programming is very quick,
using any device that can send SysEx messages:
Merger -- a 2x1 merger
QuadraMerge -- a 4 x1 merger
Thru -- a 1 x 2 THRU box
Mapper -- changes up to ten CC#s, aftertouch, etc. into any
parameter(s). (EX: Change the Mod Wheel into a
volume control.)
Router -- filters and re-channelizes MIDI events and directs
them to 1 or both of 2 outputs. (EX: Send CC#8 --
V3 Expression -- to CH#1, regardless of which channel
it is actually sent on.)
Relay -- Creates a set of switch contacts that obey any chosen
CC# or other MIDI event.
Switch -- Creates a MIDI event when a switch contact is opened
or closed.
Pedal -- Same thing, but for continuous (volume) pedals.
These devices are like the Anatek boxes, but they're more flexible,
IMHO. There are MANY more kinds of devices that they make, but I've
already turned this post into enough of an advertisement. If you are
interested, check out http://www.midisolutions.com and reply to me by
PRIVATE e-mail about what you would like to get. If you have questions,
I think I can answer them, too. I plan to sell the units at or below
normal dealer pricing, and I'll even throw in free programming of the
box for purchasers, if the Windows programming tool won't do the trick
for you.
I have no vested interest in selling these devices, other than to help
out one of the members (who shall remain nameless). If enough people
want them, we'll go forward; if not, we won't.
Best regards,
-BW
