Subject:RE: Modulation Wheel and the V5
Mel,
Look at your manual: It's called "morphing," and its a feature of the
V3 and V5. A B-3 has two sets of drawbars, which map to the B and Bb
black preset keys. The V-series does that one better by allowing a MIDI
controller to continuously fade between the settings:
Ex: MIDI CC Sound
0% 888844228 (main DB sound)
25% 888835226
50% 888826114
75% 888817112
100% 888808000 (aux DB sound)
This a great feature if you: a) don't have drawbars (on a V3), b) the
drawbars aren't convenient to get to during performance, or c) you
aren't good at pulling/pushing 'bars while playing.
On the V3, the factory default was CC40, but you could change it to any
controller that you liked. On the V5, they moved it to CC1 (mod wheel)
and it's not reprogrammable (none of the MIDI settings except channels
are). They probably did that because many keyboard players don't have
access to any continuous controller except the mod wheel. If you don't
like the effect, you can "disable" it be programming both sounds to the
same DB settings.
Best regards,
-BW

Subject: [Voce] Modulation Wheel and the V5
From: MelvinNich@aol.com
Dear list members,
Thank you for your responses; I took the plunge and ordered the 17-note
pedalboard from Fatar.
Question: On my V5, when I turn the modulation wheel on the keyboard
controller (a DX7 in this case), the sound of new drawbars fades in.
This
occurs regardless of whether I am in live mode or preset mode. What is
going
on--which drawbars are these? Does one have any degree of control over
which
will fade in?
Thanks again.
Mel
