Subject:Building your own B3 with two V5
Hey Guys. Happy Holidays to all of you from me MikeW. After
conversating with Dave Amels and the guys at DR strings you can now
have a b3 of your own. I use two Fatar controllers (sl 61 and cms
161). I bought a block of wood 1/2 thick 20 inches long 8inch wide.
Glue it on top of the CMS161 (make sure you put it within the space
provided for computer keyboard). Then take some velcro strips ,run it
across the block so that your SL61 fit snugly on top of it. There you
have a double manual. Now for those who have two V5 like me.Take your
midi cable from the SL61 and connect it to the first input of the
quadra merge box ( you can go to www.midisolutions.com and order
one).Set the SL61 keyboard midi channel to one. Go to the CMS 161. Run
a midi cable from the keyboard to the input of your first V5 module.
Set the module to midi channel 2. Also do not put the module into
multimode.Set your CMS161 to midi channel 2. Run another midi cable
out of midiout of the V5 to the second midi input of the quadra
mergebox. Take the mp113 or whatever pedalboard you use and set it to
midi 3.Run a midi cable from out of the pedalboard into the third midi
input of the quadra merge box. Set your second V5 to Multi mode
(1,2,3,). Make sure you provide space for your 2 V5 on top of your
SL61. I use 1/2 inch thick 12 inches long (I think)block of wood. Your
CMS161 and the first V5 will access the lower manual and your SL61
will access the drawbars of the second V5(which should be set to midi
channel 1). Run a audio cable out of the second V5 to whatever amp
you're using. There you have a b3. But most important make sure you
buy the quadra merge.Another thing if you have the midi drawbar unit
,that will work too in this setup.Call Colorado Case or any
other place that will custom fit a soft or hardcase to your "B3".Take
care. MikeW.
