Subject:Re: Boss VF-1 as a Leslie simulator?

It's interesting to me that you would bring this up right now. I
just bought a Boss SE-70 on the recommendation of my friend Daniel
Fisher, who is the guy who made Sweetwater Sounds's "Pocket B3" CD-
ROM. He's been using a SE-70 for his Leslie simulation for years and
he had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the VF-1. When the VF-1
was finally released he wrote me of his disappointment, saying that
Boss had not successfully improved on the SE-70 and that the SE-70
must be one of those special units that only comes along every so
once in a while. Well, I just received mine and unfortunately it's
got a broken control knob, so until I get my replacement from Roland
I'll have to wait to let you know what I think of it. As some you on
this list already know, I'm a big proponent of the Korg Toneworks G4
as opposed to the H&K Roto. To me the Roto lacks balls, but this is
just my opinion and the H&K camp seems to be just as vocal. I
suggest to anyone that if you can afford it temporarily, buy both a
G4 and a H&K and A/B them yourself and then sell the one you don't
like as well on eBay. Both units sell pretty briskly. If my SE-70
performs better than my G4, there'll be a G4 for sale on eBay soon.
